03/11/2012 - College PREP - Greensboro, NC Alex is a young, tall RHP with a frame will suited for the mound. Delivery is sound / repeatable through a strong balanced point that allows his arm action to work loose / free to the plate. He works on time and in line to his target. Fastball showed a range of 76-77 mph. Breaking ball is a quality pitch that will get outs at the next level. Pitch displays 10/4 shape with downward action. He throws a split finger with slight downward action. Command / control are a plus as he throws strikes with all his pitches, locating to both sides of the plate. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as more arm strength is developed.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
