Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • SS/RHPPosition Projection

10/03/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Spokane, WA Alex is a physical 2023 SS/RHP. Defensively, Alex displayed the ability to work through the baseball with quick feet and good range. He was able to throw from different arm slots accurately to bases. Offensively, he uses an open stance with a long stride to get in a good hitting position that allows him to make hard contact all over the field. On the mound, his mechanics were decent but arm was dragging making his ball high in the zone. His breaking ball had good bite with more of a slider/sweeping action. Alex showed well in Spokane and with minor improvements we believe he can take his game to the next level.

08/01/2021 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (HS) Alex is a coachable SS/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during the National World Series at Pirate City. In the field, Alex shows efficient footwork and is agile moving to the ball. He makes the routine plays and make strong throws across the diamond. Getting into a lower fielding position can help Alex field ground balls more efficiently. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance with comfortable hands. He rotates his core through his swing and drives the ball from gap to gap. Alex can create more consistent contact by working through a more level swing path. On the mound, Alex works with a clean arm and stays inline toward the plate, finishing with his chest square to his target. He operates with a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 72mph. Breaking ball sits from 62-64mph with 10-4 break. Being more controlled gathering to his balance point can help Alex improve his pitch command. Overall, Alex is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

05/16/2021 - All-In Membership - Spokane, WA Alex is a SS/RHP prospect in the class of 2023. At the plate, he does a very good job of consistently finding the barrel. Shows lots of athleticism throughout his swing. Flashes quick hand speed and the ability to extend through the baseball. Works gap-to-gap with power potential. In the field, he does a good job of picking out hops. Does a good job of keeping his eyes behind the backhand and working down to up. Shows the ability to change arm angles. Creates momentum to throw. On the mound, he delivers all pitches from a High ¾ arm slot. Flashes the ability to throw 4 pitches for strikes. Could benefit by dropping his arm slot to get more arm side run. Alex is a well-rounded prospect with a bright future that we hope to see again soon.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
