06/24/2017 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Alexander showed in the OF and on the mound for the first time at the event. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls but needs to play through more with momentum to his target. Range is outstanding as he utilizes his quick feet well in covering a lot of ground. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick (84 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 71-72 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as more arm strength is gained through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is extremely coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

02/25/2017 - College PREP - Sioux Falls, SD Alexander is a long, lean (6'1”, 160lbs) 2018 OF prospect. He displays outstanding, game changing speed on the field, making him a stolen base threat and a great candidate to play centerfield. He has active footwork in the outfield, showing a lightening quick first step and efficient routes to the ball to show extensive range. He is athletic to field with soft hands and gets square to throw to show off his accurate arm. Working through the ball with momentum to his target more consistently will make him a threat to throw out more runners. At the dish, he has quick hands that he launches from a powerful bat angle on a level path through the zone. He uses his lower half to generate pop to all fields and he makes square contact, taking the ball back where it's pitched. Alexander is an intriguing prospect with lots of potential on the diamond.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
