06/24/2010 - Omaha Pro Select Training and Tournament - Week 2 Heiman showed as a two-way player at the event on the mound plus at SS but currently only projects at SS for the next level. He makes plays displaying soft glove action with hands and feet working well together. Offensively, he shows a feel for the barrel and will bunt for a hit as he was 4 for 12 at the event. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 72-75 mph.

03/28/2010 - College PREP - Providence, RI Alex is a SS with a big, strong, and athletic looking body that is well suited for his position. Foot speed is above average as indicated by his 7.15 60 time. He utilizes his quick, athletic feet well in coming to get, playing through the baseball with feet and hands. Lateral movement is a plus as he displays range. Hands are presented down and out, displaying soft, clean, and sure glove action. Throws show life, carry, and accuracy across the diamond as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. He looks the part as he displays athletic actions in the middle of the IF. Offensively, Heiman shows a solid approach, flashing bat speed as he shows his long levers to stay through the baseball, displaying extension. Alex has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches as he continues to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
