09/18/2024 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic (2026) Alexander Stafford is a talented catcher who recently made a strong impression at the Arizona Junior Fall Classic. Defensively, he excels in receiving pitches, skillfully framing and stealing strikes. His blocking ability is commendable, as he rarely allows balls to get past him in the dirt. With a little focus on improving his arm strength, he will become a complete catcher. At the plate, Alexander demonstrates solid hitting skills and has great potential for power. He showcased this with a double and a single, along with driving in a run on a sacrifice fly. His ability to make contact is impressive, as he rarely strikes out. By working on engaging his lower half and driving the ball more, he can elevate his offensive game even further. With his strong work ethic, there’s no doubt he will make these adjustments and continue to develop as a player!

10/12/2022 - Arizona Freshman Fall Classic (2026) Alexander is a coachable C/3B prospect who showcased his skills during the Fall Classic. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a square stride. He gets into a small load and remains centered in his lower half. He works through a level swing with fast bat speed, driving the ball from gap to gap. Overall, Alexander is a talented prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

07/17/2021 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (MS) Alexander is a C/SS prospect who showcased his skills during the World Series at Pirate City. Behind the dish, Alexander is efficient moving to block and covers up well. He presents a good target and receives with a firm glove. His exchange is clean and he gets rid of the ball quickly, making accurate/on-line throws to the 2B bag. Sitting in a lower stance can help Alexander improve his overall catching ability. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes his stride on time. He gets back into his load and drives through well with his lower half. He works through a direct swing with good extension, producing line drives to his pull side. Alexander can create more consistent contact by working a smoother rhythm into his load. With five more years to develop, Alexander has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

06/16/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Tacoma, WA Alexander is a young, 2-way player who catches and plays SS. Behind the plate, Alexander has active feet, a presentable glove, and agile movements. He holds a low target, has a good chest angle when blocking, and he throws with accuracy and direction from a long arm action to 2nd base. Pop times were as low as 2.98 seconds. At SS, Alexander has active feet and firm hands. He has a good 1st step to the ball, fields aggressively and throws with a quick arm action across the diamond. Offensively, Alexander has an athletic set-up, good balance, and he swings in good rhythm. He gets good extension through, he can spray to all fields, and he uses his lower body. Alexander can continue to improve with work on the following.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
