04/30/2017 - College PREP - Fort Myers, FL Alexis is a talented young catching prospect. As a catcher, Alexis has a good set up in his primary, shows quick feet in his exchange to throw to the bases, and has good direction with his body when throwing. If he continues to setup sooner to show a low/early target, be soft but firm when receiving, and work around the ball when receiving he will improve his ability to get the boarder line strike call. Working on a clean and quick exchange will help improve his ability to throw to the bases as well. As a hitter, Alexis tracks the ball well and takes an aggressive swing. If he continues to get his front foot down on time, load his hands into the drive position, and stay inside the ball, he will be able to work the other side on the field. Keeping his front shoulder closed at contact and driving his back hip into the ball will allow him to keep his bat on plane throughout the strike zone longer

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
