09/29/2024 - All-In National Showcase - Kannapolis (Charlotte), NC AJ is a freshman third baseman and right-handed pitcher from New Hill, NC, who is making a strong impression on the field. In the infield, he displays efficient footwork and the ability to cover ground effectively, funneling the ball to the middle of his body before delivering online throws across the diamond at a consistent 79 mph. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber, maintains focus on his target, and lands squarely with proper stride length. He attacks hitters with a fastball, a curveball with impressive depth, and a changeup that features fastball arm speed. Notably, his curveball shone as his best pitch during bullpen sessions. At the plate, he hits from an even stance, showcasing a powerful rotation of his lower half, quick hands, and a flat barrel path, allowing him to consistently drive line drives. With four years of growth and development ahead, he has a bright future in the game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
