08/02/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) AJ continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and has strength in his swing through a line drive approach. At SS, hands are clean but needs to present more out front. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls but will benefit by playing through with his body. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and a very hard worker.

01/29/2017 - College PREP - Mechanicsburg (Harrisburg), PA AJ is a tall, lean SS who has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. In the MIF, he displays clean/athletic actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and presents a soft/sure glove well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, AJ has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
