A clean transfer, with a short arm action, and a high 3/4 release point and arm velocity up to 80mph and a best pop time of 2.22 seconds. In the infield, he showed a good pre-pitch routine and ability to field out front. A 1-hand field in the alley, with a clean transfer, and accurate/on-line throws to first base. A right-handed hitter, he starts with an upright and open stance. A direct barrel path, with a good rear hip coil, and ability to keep his hands inside the baseball. 07/21/2022 - Baseball Factory National World Series at IMG Academy - Session 2 (HS) Andrew is a talented C in the 2024 class. Scouts felt he was a gamer and hard worker. Felt he made several adjustments. He plays with energy and displays outstanding body language. Behind the plate, he plays low and has solid body control. Can maintain the strike zone by using a firm wrist and beating the ball to the spot. His catch to release is clean and gets the ball in the air (2.06 pop) and to the bag. Blocks the baseball well and is quick to recover. At the plate, he impressed with his simple approach. Collected three hits in camp by generating consistent contact and gaining proper extension. Uses his lower half and a controlled rhythm. Is considered a line drive hitter with potential for more gap-to gap production. Overall, Andrew is a fine player and a player to keep an eye on in the 2024 class.

02/06/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Sugar Land (Houston), TX Andrew is a C who will graduate in 2024. Medium frame athletic build with some strength present and room to add throughout. Behind the plate, he showed efficient footwork and presents a low target. Creates good blocking angles and ability to roll shoulders and keep balls in front. A right-handed hitter, he hits from a crouched and even stance. Smooth rhythm to swing, with an on-time stride, and ability to control the barrel. He sprayed balls to all fields during BP with a bat exit velocity up to 80mph. Another 2 years of growth and development will bode well for his opportunities at the next level.

07/27/2021 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (HS) Andrew continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.19 and will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He shows a squared setup and presents a soft mitt out front and utilizes his body through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick and work through level swing path. He makes consistent hard contact and stays inside the ball through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

11/22/2020 - National Evaluation and Tryout - Bossier City (Shreveport), LA Andrew continues to shine on the diamond. He did show behind the plate as a catcher for the first time at the event. At 3B, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present earlier and more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process but needs to work to get down sooner and create better angles. Pop times showed in 2.27 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

09/12/2020 - Fall Pro Training Experience - TX (HS) Andrew continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 3B, he displays smooth actions. Feet are active as he works to square balls up but needs to play through more with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At the event, he was 2 for 4.

09/04/2020 - MS All-Region Tournament Andrew is a 3B/C prospect who showed well during the All-Region Tournament. In the field, Andrew shows efficient footwork and takes good angles to the ball. He gets into a square position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He has a clean exchange and keeps his throws on-line to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He is fluid getting back into his load and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a level swing with decent bat speed, leading to consistent contact and gap to gap pop. Overall, Andrew is a solid prospect who has the potential to build upon his skills on the field.

12/27/2019 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic (Ages 12-14) Andrew is an athletic and talented 2-way prospect. At 3B, Andrew is on time with his prep step, he presents a low/early glove and works from the ground up. He needs to continue to improve his first step quickness and build arm strength. He has good feeds on double plays and can throw from multiple arm angles. At the plate, Andrew starts in an athletic stance, he loads his hands back into the drive position, and looks to make contact to all fields. Continuing to attack the inside part of the ball and rotating his lower half will improve his ability to drive the ball. On the bump, Andrew has a clean arm swing, he separates on time, and rotates toward the plate. He has a flat fastball, minimal break on the curveball, and throws his changeup down in the zone. Working down hill and finishing over the front side will improve his fastball command. Andrew will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
