12/27/2019 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic (Ages 12-14) Andrew is a hard working 2-way prospect with a high baseball IQ. Behind the dish, Andrew made several adjustments and showed off his instincts by pack picking a runner that took a big lead. When receiving, he presents a low target, and works behind the ball. When blocking, he anticipates the ball in the dirt, he leads with his glove, and he gets his body into a strong position to control the ball with his chest. When throwing, he has a clean exchange, he gains ground, and makes accurate throws. At the plate, Andrew starts in an open stance, he loads his hands back, and attacks the inside part of the ball. He rotates his backside and has a line drive approach. On the bump, Andrew gathers over the rubber, he separates on time, and has a clean arm action. He throws his fastball for strikes, he gets medium break on his curveball, and throws his changeup down in the zone. He needs to continue to ride his backside and work north to south in his delivery. Andrew continues to improve and we’re excited to see his progress in the future.

12/27/2018 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Andrew is an athletic and talented 2024 2-way prospect that worked hard all week. Behind the dish, Andrew starts in a balanced primary stance and works to receive the ball in front of his body. He leads with his glove and controls balls in the dirt when blocking. He needs to continue exchange the ball in front of his body, have a shorter arm slot, and create momentum with his lower half when throwing to bases. At the plate, Andrew starts in an open stance, gets his front foot down on time, and hits off a firm front side. He has a compact swing and consistently barrels the baseball. He needs to continent to load his hands back into the drive position and attack the inside part of the ball. On the bump, Andrew has good mound presence and attacks the strike zone with his fastball. He gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and has a clean arm action. Andrew was eager to learn and we hope to see his progress in the future.

07/29/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Washington, DC Andrew is a thin, 2-way player who pitches and catches. On the mound, Andrew has a loose arm action, he keeps his eyes on target, and his delivery is simple. He separates on time, has good direction toward home, and finishes in a complete position. Behind the plate, Andrew sits in low, he has good flexion, and he uses his body to block. He covers the 5 hole well, his exchange is clean, and he throws with momentum and accuracy to his target. At the plate, Andrew has a square set-up, good balance, and compact/level swing. He swings aggressively and can spray to all fields. Overall skills can get better if Andrew can work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
