11/15/2009 - College PREP - Rochester, NY Andrew is a young, 2012 graduate that shows as a LHP with a tall, solid body with projection as he continues to physically mature. Delivery shows in line direction but needs to get instruction on the mechanics of his delivery to allow his arm action to work at its full potential. Arm strength is below average as he must get on a strict long toss program to aid in further developing more arm strength, raising velocities. Fastball shows a range of 70-74 mph. Breaking ball is best off speed pitch, displaying 11/5 shape with tight spin and late movement but needs to throw the pitch harder. Changeup is average showing some feel for on a straight plane. He throws a 2 seam fastball showing some arm side run. Stock on the mound will rise quickly with instruction and more arm strength. With 3 years to further develop, Andrew has abilities with time and room to improve.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
