07/23/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Andrew continues to show progress in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields. He has strength in his swing and utilizes his lower half well with power showing best to the pull side. In the OF, he displays smooth actions. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He reads balls well off the bat and works to get behind balls, playing through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 67 mph. Fastball showed a range of 62-67 mph. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

06/20/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Bridgeport, CT Andrew is a tall, solid LHP/OF. Defensively in the OF, he presents his hands and shows the ability to cover ground. He hustles hard as he tries to work behind fly balls and makes accurate throws to his target. On the hill, this LHP is a strike thrower with good tempo. He drives his lower 1/2 off the rubber as he delivers with clean arm action and works in line towards home plate. With the stick, Andrew has smooth rhythm to load. He swings fast on a direct bat path through the zone and drives pitches from gap to gap. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Lateral range
2. Develop soft hands
3. Quicker exchange to throw
Pitching
1. Get on top
2. Arm strength (long toss)
3. Finish strong
Offense
1. Quiet load
2. Front foot timing
3. Create more consistent contact

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
