07/17/2018 - College PREP - Highland Park (DFW), TX Andrew is an athletic OF/SS who has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is solid as indicated by his 60 time of 7.32. At the plate is where he shows best through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive approach. He shows a feel for the barrel and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. In the OF, he displays smooth / clean actions. He utilizes his feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes / angles. He needs to work to get behind balls and play through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. At SS, he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active and he displays proper footwork but needs to play through balls more with his body. Glove action is soft but needs to present more out front. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. With 3 years to further develop, Andrew has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
