07/21/2010 - College PREP - Sanford (Orlando), FL Andrew showed good improvements in his game at his last workout in Sanford, FL. He improved his radar velocity from 76 to 79 MPH, and lowered his 60 time from 7.67 to 7.3. Behind the plate, Andrew has quiet actions, good footwork, and soft hands. He works around the ball well, and he looks it into his glove. He has a quick transfer and is online to his target when throwing. Andrew can get even better behind the plate by improving his blocking skills. At SS, Andrew has a good set-up, athletic actions, and he moves well laterally. He works from the ground up, he works through the ball, and he has a quick exchange. Andrew throws accurately to his target, and with a looser front side, and not pushing the baseball, defensive numbers can further improve. Offensively, Andrew is currently a better hitter from the right side, where he has a quiet approach and good trigger. He has a balanced approach, works the gaps, and he makes good use of his lower 1/2. A shorter stroke will help abilities from the right side improve. From the left side, Andrew has good balance, nice trigger, and quick hands. He will need a more narrow base, shorter swing, and more backside for lefty numbers to get better.

06/17/2010 - Omaha Pro Select Training and Tournament - Week 1 Andrew is a young, thin, 2-way player that plays SS and Cather. At SS, Andrew has very good footwork and hands, and he makes plays on balls hit his way. He fields the ball smoothly and throws accurately with some carry to his target. Defensive abilities can improve with better range and added arm strength. Offensively Andrew is a switch hitter with a good offensive approach. He is an aggressive hitter, with good hands, and he can work the ball to all fields. A more firm backside and added physical strength will help this young, talented player become even better.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
