08/25/2012 - College PREP - Purchase, NY Andrew is a tall, lanky LHP that will graduate in 2013. Delivery is outstanding showing sound / repeatable mechanics that allows his quick arm action to work loose / free to the plate. He shows good tempo through a strong balance point and 3/4 arm slot. Fastball shows a range of 74-77 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball shows as a quality pitch that will gets outs at the next level. Pitch displays 2/8 shape with tight spin and gradual break. Changeup is outstanding showing a plus feel for with sinking action. Command / control are a plus as he throws strikes with all his pitches, locating to both sides of the plate. Stock on the mound will rise quickly as more arm strength is developed.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
