11/15/2009 - College PREP - Rochester, NY Angelo is a young two-way player on the mound plus at SS with an average frame that shows projection as he continues to physically mature. Currently, he projects best on the mound for the next level. Delivery is sound showing a quick tempo that allows his quick arm action to work free away from his body. Arm strength is solid average as he will benefit by getting on a strict long toss program to aid in further developing more arm strength, raising velocities. Fastball shows a range of 82-84 mph with life. Breaking ball is best off speed pitch, displaying 11/5 shape with tight spin and late breaking action. Change up is average needing further development to be a quality pitch at the next level. He throws a 2 seam with plus glove side run displaying late movement. Command and control are a plus as he throws strikes with all his pitches, attacking hitters. Foot speed is near average as he needs to get on a speed / agility program to improve foot quickness for the next level. Feet are active in coming to get the baseball but needs to be more aggressive in playing through the baseball with feet / hands. Hands are soft, clean, and sure in displaying a solid glove action showing slightly above average defensive abilities in the middle of the IF. At the plate, Harkins tracks the ball well, making hard contact to the pull side but has some mechanical flaws that are hindering him from reaching full potential at plate with grades improving with instruction and adjustments. With 2 years to further develop, Angelo has an upside on the mound and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches as he continues to improve.
