11/11/2010 - Pirate City Select Training Anthony is a young, Catcher / Pitcher who will graduate in 2014. Behind the plate, Anthony has good footwork, he receives the ball well, and he can block the baseball. He gets rid of the ball quickly and throws accurately with a good arm action to his target. Abilities behind the dish can improve with better communication skills, trusting his blocking abilities, and adding arm strength. On the mound, Anthony has athletic actions, his arm works well, and he throws strikes. He has good poise, he pitches to contact, and his mechanics are decent. Anthony can get better by finishing off his pitches more and developing more off-speed pitches. Offensively, Anthony has a good plan at the plate, he is a disciplined hitter, and he stays inside the ball well. He was 3-5 at the plate and showed pull-side and opposite field pop. Anthony is a solid young player with a bright future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
