Official Scouting Report

12/27/2013 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Reyes is a hardworking SS/RHP with plus makeup as he is a great team player and is very coachable. He utilizes his feet well in his lateral movement, displaying range and attacks balls with his feet, playing through well. Hands are soft / clean but needs to present more out front to continue to improve defensive grade. Throws are accurate but will benefit by getting rid of the baseball quicker and build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a balanced setup with rhythm. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel with baseball jumping off the bat when centered. Power numbers will improve as he learns to use his lower half more. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 70-73 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with gradual breaking action. He shows a feel for his changeup with sink. Off speed stuff show potential as being quality pitches at the next level. Control is well above average as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

09/08/2013 - College PREP - Azusa, CA Anthony is a solid SS/RHP who has an athletic build. Defensively, he plays on the balls of his feet and and works into a square fielding position. He makes the backhand play smoothly and makes accurate throws across the diamond. At the plate, Anthony shows good rhythm and has a middle of the field approach. He drives the ball to all fields and is a contact type hitter. Getting a better load will help to increase contact consistency. On the bump, this RHP has a 3-pitch mix coming from an over the top arm slot and short/compact delivery. He gets to a tall balance point and drives off the rubber. CB is best off-speed and shows 11/5 shape with late break. He fills up the zone and throws strikes with all of his pitches. A long toss program will help to increase arm strength and increase FB velocity. As a 2015 grad, Anthony still has time to make the necessary adjustments to improve his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
