12/27/2014 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Ashtin showed the ability to be coachable and apply instruction. He was an aggressive hitter who showed good pop when he squared up the ball. He will become more consistent when he widens his base, becoming more balanced, and allowing for more efficient use of his lower half. Squaring up his stride would also help keep his front side in better. In the field, Ashtin gained ground on the ball and showed lateral range. Developing a better sense of urgency and raising his arm slot will enable successful play as the game speeds up. On the mound, he threw across his body for some deception, but can work to become stronger with his front side to add velo and control. Development of some secondary pitches would improve his effectiveness in keeping hitters off-balance. In all - with fundamental ability and his aptitude, Choplin projects well.
