01/15/2010 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America - 2010 Austin is a tall, lean, athletic OF with very good skills. He has good athleticism, baseball instincts, and play skills. Austin's feet and hands play well, and he has good body control. He gets good extension on his throws and they are online with carry. With a quicker exchange and quicker feet, Austin's defense can further improve. At the plate, Austin has excellent balance and good bat speed. He gets good bat whip, has a level barrel, and he uses his lower 1/2 well. A stronger top hand and more relaxation at the plate should help Austin's offensive skills further improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
