10/12/2014 - College PREP - Hoover (Birmingham), AL Austin showed at 3B plus on the mound for the first time and has improved his baseball abilities across the board. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a solid runner at 7.31. Defensive grade at 3B is now slightly above aveage as he displays clean / smooth actions. Hands / feet work well together through the fielding process. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he attacks balls more while presenting hands more out front. Throws are accurate, flashing carry as he works to get rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate, he has improved his hitting / power grade, now showing slightly above average through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, aggressive and works through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel with the baseball jumping off the bat when centered, mainly to the pull side. Hitting grade will continue to improve as he works to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. Power numbers will increase as he learns to fully utilize his lower half. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 77-80 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break He maintains arm speed arm speed on changeup but needs to develop more movement on pitch. Stock on mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength and throws more strikes.
