12/20/2023 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 Austin continues to show as a prospect with improvements in his baseball abilities. At 3B, defensive abilities are now outstanding as he displays smooth actions. He shows active footwork as he attacks ball, working to square ball up. Glove action is clean and presents out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate with online carry (86 mph velocity) to his target. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields, flashing gap-to-gap pop. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 78 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his split finger with sinking action. Slider is hard with tight spin and short / sharp break. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to increase as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

09/24/2023 - National Showcase - Cleveland, OH Austin is a gifted 6ft 2/193 3B/RHP in the 2026 class. In the field, he shows quick and athletic feet. Gains ground to the baseball and displays an athletic and square fielding position. Has pocket feel and his exchanges are clean. Arm plays at 81 velo and his feeds from an over-the-top slot are accurate. Scouts feel he is a plus defender. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber well and is in the zone with his FB and SL. FB sat 76-7 with both cut and sinking actions. His SL shows sudden break at 74 and can produce swing and miss action with CB at 70. His CH/split combo sits around 71 and with more development can become very effective pitches. At the plate, he has athletic feel and smooth timing. Likes to be aggressive and his hips are violent. Hits off a firm front side and demonstrates pull side power. Can overswing at times and working to stay balanced and stay in the middle of the field will help as he advances to higher levels of pitching. Overall, Austin is a cant miss prospect in the 2026 class.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
