01/28/2024 - National Showcase - San Antonio, TX Austin continues to show as a prospect with his baseball abilities on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying solid hitting abilities with well above average power potential through a crouched setup. Hands are quick (84 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. In the OF, defensive abilities are solid as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind ball and plays through with momentum to his target. He utilizes his foot quickness in covering a lot of ground. Throws are accurate with carry (85 mph velocity) to his target. On the mound, fastball shows a range 75-76 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

06/15/2023 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 Austin continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.08 runner. At the plate, hitting / power potential have improved through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. In the OF, he displays smooth fluid actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. He utilizes his foot quickness in covering a lot of ground. Throws are accurate with carry to his target. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 73-75 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his knuckleball with tumbling action. Control is solid as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

01/08/2023 - National Showcase - San Antonio, TX Austin is a RHP/OF prospect who will graduate in 2026. Medium frame athletic build with strength present. A right-handed pitcher, he shows good rhythm to his delivery with good direction to towards the plate. Picks up target early and has deception to his delivery. He throws a FB that sits 74-76mph with arm side run. He mixes in a 10/4 shaped breaking ball that flashes good depth, and a knuckle ball that has some downward action. FB was best pitch during his bullpen session. In the OF, takes aggressive angles to balls and showed ability to make routine plays. Has clean gather off of his left foot and has a long arm stroke. Creates momentum on his throws, with a quick release, and an arm velocity up to 82mph. At the plate, he sets up with a tall and closed stance. Gets hands separated and shows a flat barrel through the hitting zone. He hit line drives to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 81mph during his round of BP. With 3 years of continued growth and development, we foresee this 2-way prospect making huge strides on the baseball field.

07/16/2022 - Baseball Factory National World Series at IMG Academy - (MS) Austin is a 2026 3B/RHP prospect who improved his skills during the National World Series. At 3B, he showed a good 1st step and ability to make routine plays. He fields with his hands out front and has a low funnel. He gets rid of ball and throws from a 3/4 arm slot with an arm velocity up to 78mph. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on-time. He strides in-line and gets his chest over his knee. He attacks hitters with a FB that topped out at 75mph with tailing action, an 11/5 shaped breaking ball, and a CH with some cutting action. At the plate, he sets up in a crouched and closed with loose hands. Showed a controlled load and is centered at contact. He showed a strong barrel as he hit balls into both gaps with a bat exit velocity up to 69mph during his round of BP. During the event, Austin reached base 4 times with a triple, 2 singles, and a walk. Overall, Austin is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

03/13/2022 - All-In Membership - Highland Park (DFW), TX Austin is a RHP/3B in the class of 2026 out of Copperas Cove, TX. At 3B, he showed good agility by getting out of his prep and reacting off the crack of the bat. He had a good crossover step and showed good range laterally. He made clean exchanges after fielding but could benefit from an arm strength program to improve carry on his throws across the diamond. As a hitter, he uses an athletic set up with a strong load to fire the bat through the zone with quick hands. He works on plane with the pitch and makes consistent square contact with glimpses of power. On the mound, he did a good job with his mechanics by gathering over the rubber and landing controlled while staying closed. He threw strikes with his 3 pitch mix of fastball (73mph), a curveball with 10/4 action and a change up with slight fade. Austin is a solid young player who will continue to progress in the game with hard work and development.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
