Official Scouting Report

  • RHP/3BPosition Projection

12/20/2021 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 Austin is a RHP/3B prospect who showcased his skills during the Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City. On the mound, Austin operates with a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 80mph. Breaking ball sits from 65-68mph. In the field, Austin shows active footwork with a quick first step. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. His exchange is clean and he makes accurate throws to his target. Long tossing can help Austin improve his arm strength on the mound and in the field. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance with comfortable hands. He is fluid to load and works to barrel up the baseball, producing strong line drives. Austin can create more consistent contact by working through a shorter swing path. Overall, Austin is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

10/03/2021 - All-In Membership - Trenton, NJ Austin is a tall RHP prospect who will graduate in 2024. On the mound, Austin gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and stays inline toward the plate, finishing square to his target. Austin operates with a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 77mph. Breaking ball sits from 62-63mph with 10-4 break. Changeup sits from 64-66mph as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Extending through his release more can help Austin improve his pitch command and velocity. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes his stride on time. He gets into his load and leads well with his lower half. He generates fast bat speed through the zone and sprays the ball to all fields. Austin can create more consistent contact by working through a more compact swing path. With three more years to develop, Austin has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
