09/12/2010 - College PREP - Sacramento, CA Bartleson continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now 7.23 runner. Feet are active as he moves well laterally displaying range as he works to get behind balls. Arm strength has improved as he topped out at 84 mph with life, carry, and accuracy on his throws. Offensively, Austin shows an aggressive approach as he attacks the baseball with his hands as he works inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Power numbers continue to shine as he utilize his lower half well through the swing.

08/04/2010 - College Prep Super Regional - Spokane Valley, WA - AM Austin is an OF with a solid, athletic looking body that is well suited for his position. Foot speed is solid average as indicated by his 7.38 60 time. Feet are active and aggressive in taking proper routes / angles in tracking down balls as he works in getting behind balls to play through with momentum to his target. He moves well laterally, displaying range as he reads the ball well off the bat. Throws show carry and accuracy through a fluid through motion with hands and feet working well in getting rid of the baseball quickly. Offensively is where Bartieson shows best with outstanding abilities and power. He shows an aggressive approach with plus bat speed as he works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields. The baseball explodes off his bat with lower half working well through the swing, displaying plus power. Austin has a big upside and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
