04/03/2016 - College PREP - Lake Charles, LA Austin is a muscular, athletic 3B who has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is solid as indicated by his 60 time of 7.37. At 3B, defensive abilities are well above average, displaying smooth / fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he shows a low approach, displaying clean hands. Glove action is soft / sure as he presents well out front. He works to get rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy on his throws. At the plate, he shows solid power potential through a closed setup. Hands are quick (89 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel with baseball exploding off the bat when centered, mainly to the pull side. With 2 years to further develop, Austin has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
