08/06/2023 - National Showcase - Newnan, GA Austin is a strong and stocky 1B/LHP in the 2025 class. In the field, he moves his feet well and plays through the baseball. He presents a strong pocket from an athletic and squared fielding position. Shows awareness around the bag and a feel for the position. On the mound, he operates with a 3-pitch mix from a high ¾ slot. His FB touched 71 and showed arm side run at times. His CB was 58-9 and his SL was consistently in the zone at 65-7. Working to stay directional to the plate will help with maintain the strike zone. At the plate, he begins in a strong base and uses a short stride. His Timing is smooth and shows solid pull side production. Working to let the baseball travel more will help him to recognize off-speed as he progresses in the game. Overall, Austin is a solid prospect and look for him to make a jump in the coming months.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
