12/27/2014 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Austin continues to work hard on his game. He is a coachable player who is willing to make the necessary adjustments to take his game to the next level. Defensively at 1B, he hustles into position behind the ground ball and tracks it into his mitt. He fields the ball with soft hands and gathers well. He is a big target at 1B which his fellow INF's like to throw to. Working from the ground-up will help to avoid getting the in-between hops and will benefit his growth defensively. With the bat, this RHH shows good plate discipline by not swinging at much out of the zone. Barrel is quick to and through the ball at contact as he connects and drives it. More extension with increased lower 1/2 drive will help him to tap into his power potential. On the bump, Austin works through fluid tempo with clean actions. FB shows arm side run and will get in on the RHH. Delivery is a little deceptive which will keep hitters guessing. He competes and works all pitches in or around the zone. Erickson is a versatile player who should find success on the diamond.
