08/29/2024 - All-Ripken Games - Baltimore, MD Austin is a talented 3B/RHP who showcased his skills as a prospect at the All Ripken Games. At third base, he moves with smooth, fluid actions, using his active footwork to get behind the ball and maintain momentum toward his target. His glove work is clean, presenting well out front, and his foot quickness allows him to cover a lot of ground. Offensively, Austin displays a squared setup with a solid approach, and his quick hands work through a level swing path, allowing him to use all fields effectively. On the basepaths, he is aggressive, consistently looking to take the extra base. On the mound, his fastball ranges between 65-69 mph, and as he continues to build velocity through arm strengthening and develops his off-speed pitches, his stock on the mound will continue to rise. With time and dedication, Austin has considerable potential to grow and elevate his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
