07/13/2015 - College PREP - Carrollton (DFW), TX Austin is an exciting prospect as a LHH catcher. With the bat, this lefty has an athletic setup with rhythm to load. Quick hands whip the barrel to and through the zone with speed. He squares the ball up and drives it to the gaps with pop. Behind the dish, Austin sits in well, tracks pitches into his mitt and sticks them framing well. Exchange is quick/clean as he puts his throws on a line accurately to the 2B bag (pop times of 1.95). LHH catchers are a hot commodity at the next level - Austin is a talented player who will make an impact on the diamond.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
