12/27/2024 - Baseball Factory Holiday Classic at Pirate City Austin is a promising left-handed pitcher and first baseman from Sparta, NJ, who will graduate in 2028. He worked hard to refine his skills at the Baseball Factory Pirate City Holiday Camp. With his tall frame and lean build, Austin displays solid defensive abilities, starting in a relaxed ready position and showcasing efficient footwork and an on-time fielding position. His clean arm stroke allows him to make strong throws to all bases, with an arm velocity of up to 80 mph. On the mound, Austin’s projectable frame and long levers give him a natural advantage, and his smooth rhythm to his delivery allows him to effectively attack hitters. In five innings of work, he struck out five batters and induced soft contact, demonstrating his poise and control. At the plate, Austin bats from the right side with a tall stance and comfortable hands, showing good plate discipline. He walked three times and had a single during the camp, proving his ability to get on base and contribute offensively. Austin proved to be a great teammate with a coachable attitude, and with more development, he has a bright future ahead of him.

08/21/2024 - All-In National Showcase - Trenton, NJ Austin is a LHP/1B who will graduate in 2028. Shows smooth actions with fluid footwork and good body control at baseball. Has a low funnel and loose arm stroke. Made on-line throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with good carry on baseball. Hits from a tall and even stance. Showed a short barrel path with ability to spray balls to all fields during his round of BP. On the mound has a simple and repeatable delivery. Gets a clean leg lift and works with good direction. A 3-pitch pitcher who works off a FB that topped 71mph with some arm side run. He mixes in a 1/7 shaped slider and a changeup with good movement in strike zone. With 4 years of continued growth and development, we foresee Austin improving in all phases of his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
