Official Scouting Report

  • SS/RHPPosition Projection

07/24/2015 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 Austin is a talented player that shows versatility on the field. Defensively, he showed a mature approach to fielding. He gets himself into good position and squares himself to the ball. He moves well around the infield with signs of range. Becoming more vocal and continuing to work on footwork will give Austin a great shot at SS. On the mound, he showed a live FB with good off speed to keep the hitters off balance. He has a great feel from 60ft 6 inches with a projectable build. Offensively, Austin is a smart hitter and uses all fields. He hits with a strong, powerful stance with a contact approach. Continued work to polish his skills and enhance the qualities that he already possesses will give him a bright future.

11/06/2014 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Austin is a solid, athletic two way player who does well in the infield and on the mound. As a RHP, he gathers over the rubber and has solid mechanics. He varies his looks with runners on, has good arm speed and uses his body effectively toward his target. With improvements to his ability to finish pitches and keeping his front side closed he will be able to excel. Defensively, Austin plays an athletic SS with sure hands and a good, accurate arm with solid footwork. At the plate, he is an aggressive hitter with a strong top hand and hits line drives consistently. Austin has solid mechanics has needs to continue to focus on his approach and ability to drive off speed pitches.

09/14/2014 - Interactive Video Program - Oak Creek (Milwaukee), WI Austin is a young, thin, 2-way player who plays SS and RHP. Defensively, Austin has good pre-pitch actions, he is aggressive to the ball, and he moves with good body control. He takes good angles, his glove works well, and he throws with accuracy to his target. On the hill, Austin works in good tempo, his are is loose and free, and he gets solid extension on his pitches. His off-speed shows well, and finishes out over his front knee. At the plate, Austin has a square set-up, an activated load, and direct hands to the ball. He swings aggressively, makes good contact, and squares the ball up well on the barrel. Austin can improve overall skills with work on the following.

Defense
1. Play more through
2. Backhand
3. Soften glove
Pitching
1. Direction
2. More still head
3. Long toss
Offense

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
