11/08/2024 - Baseball Factory West Coast Fall Training (MS) Austin is a dedicated left-handed pitcher and first baseman from Montana who made the most of his time at the Baseball Factory West Coast Fall Training in Arizona. Throughout his weekend, he was highly engaged, worked hard to refine his skills, and asked insightful questions, showing his commitment to improvement. As a first baseman, Austin demonstrates solid footwork with a low, athletic fielding position and a good glove angle, along with an impressive ability to scoop baseballs. While there’s room to develop his arm strength, his defensive fundamentals are strong. At the plate, Austin starts in an open stance with high hands and uses his core rotation to drive the ball, displaying good bat speed and the ability to hit pitches well. On the mound, he showed great poise and composure, with a focus on pitching ahead in counts. His clean arm action and ability to land in an athletic fielding position enhance his control. Austin effectively throws both a fastball and curveball, with 65% of his pitches thrown for strikes. As a 6th grader, Austin has ample time to continue developing his skills and adding strength, and his hardworking attitude and solid foundation make him a player with great potential for the future.
