11/07/2013 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 14-18) Austin once again showed consistency in his game at a Baseball Factory event. The first basemen showed good footwork and good bag awareness. He is a vocal infielder that makes plays and can improve his game with increased agility. Offensively, he showed good hit and power ability with a direct/level barrel and through lower half. A left handed bat is always desired, and with added bat speed, Austin will be sought after. On the mound, he showed to be a good pitcher that pounds the zone with quality control. Adding long toss to his regimen to increase arm strength will allow for greater pitchability. Overall - Austin is a pleasure to work with and coach, and his continued improvements shows his desire to excel.

07/31/2013 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 Austin performed well on the bump and at the dish, in his latest Factory outing. At the plate, the lefty had a quiet spray approach with good rhythm and barrel delivery. On the mound, he threw three pitches with his fastball topping out at 73 MPH. He showed decent arm action, was able to repeat his delivery and hit his spots around the zone. His quick tempo kept the game moving and kept his defenders ready. At first, he showed skill working around the bag, good fielding position and good pre-pitch work. He has soft hands and fields balls he can get to. Increasing range and using his feet to throw will increase defensive ability. In all, Hamilton is projectable on the bump as a LHP that battles and gets outs.

06/22/2013 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 Austin worked out both on the mound and at 1B during his last even in Omaha. On the hill, Austin works to his balance point well, he has smooth separation, and he keeps his eyes on target. He has level shoulders, and gets good from arm extension on his pitches. At 1st base, Austin sure hands, he fields in a low / athletic position, and he throws with accuracy to his target. Offensively, Austin has good balance, a fluid stroke, and he gets his lower 1/2 through. Austin is a very coachable player with a bright future.

01/18/2013 - Arizona National Spring Training Austin is a young (2016 graduate) potential two-way player as a LHP/1B. On the mound Austin aggressive with his pitches. He has a smooth, easy delivery with good rhythm. Austin throws from a 3/4 arm angle with good extension and consistent arm side run. Austin does have a tendency to get out in front with his lower half and open his hips early, which effect his velocity. At 1B Austin sets low and centers the ball fielding with soft, sure hands. He has playable footwork but could use some speed/agility work to improve his range. Throwing, Austin has a short arm action in the field from a low 3/4 arm slot. He is accurate but could add to his arm strength by using his legs more and getting on a consistent long toss program. At the plate Austin has good balance from start to finish. His setup is low, square and athletic. He loads well with a short stride. Austin has fast hands with a good lower half and level swing, which gives him solid line-drive power. Austin does sometimes let the ball get to deep not allowing for full extension. As a 2016 graduate, Austin shows a huge upside. He could be an impact player both on the mound and at the plate with continued hard work and some mechanical adjustments.

07/27/2012 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City Austin Hamilton is a 2016 graduate who pitches and plays 1st base. In the infield Austin has sure hands, plays thru well, fields out front, and has a controlled approach. At the plate he has an athletic set up with an open stance, stable balance, and uses his lower half well. He is a gap to gap hitter and shows lots of potential power for the next level. He has a good approach at the plate and shows that he is a disciplined hitter. On the mound Austin has a repeatable delivery allowing him to be consistent. He has great mechanics and a very good mound presence. He knows how to pitch and was able to throw strikes with his fastball with natural sink.

06/22/2012 - California Select Training & Competition (Ages 12-14) Austin is an athletic 2016 graduate who is a LHP/1B. On the mound, he displayed above average arm strength, good arm action, and a smooth/easy delivery. He needs more weight shift and be more aggressive with his glove side. As an infielder, Austin has soft hands, active feet, low fielding position, and he fields out front. He takes good angles to the ball, he has clean feeds and he showed good agility. At the plate, he has an athletic set-up, good balance, and his lower half gets through. His timing is good and he is consistent. He needs to work on top hand getting through and keeping barrel inside. Austin is a great kid with good knowledge of the game. If he makes some adjustments and works hard he should be a very good player in the future.

01/13/2012 - Arizona National Spring Training - 2012 (Pre HS) Austin is an athletic/tall/solid 2016 graduate who is a LHP/1B. He has better than average arm strength with good/loose arm action and he is accurate to his target. On the mound Austin displayed great arm action, good control, very nice delivery and poise. He needs to watch flying open on the front-side, locking out his front side, he needs to speed up his tempo and finish in an athletic position (he falls off). As an infielder Austin has soft hands, efficient footwork, athletic fielding position and he fields the ball out front. He is a very solid fielder with a good arm, he just needs to continue working on the agility drills for speed/efficiency and his fundamentals fielding the ball. At the plate Austin has an athletic setup, smooth load, lower half gets through, very good bat speed, fluid rhythm and he consistently squares the ball up. He needs to watch his swing path (he tends to get uphill a little) so that it is on-plane to the pitch. Austin is a very project-able young player who will be one to watch in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
