08/01/2010 - College Prep Super Regional - Blue Springs, MO - PM Austin is a two-way player at 2B plus catcher with a small, thin frame that shows projection as he continues to physically mature, filling out. At 2B, feet are active in coming to get the ball, playing through with baseball with his body. Glove action is deep at times, allowing the baseball to get in on his body. He needs to present his hands down and out front more. Behind the plate, he gains ground with his feet, working in line but takes extra steps with his throws to 2B. Pop times show a range of 2.30-2.41 and he will benefit by getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength and carry, thus lowering pop times. Receiving and blocking skills show potential as being quality tools at the next level. Offensively, Holtgrieve shows a solid approach with hands working inside the ball, utilizing all fields. He has an idea with good rhythm through a line drive approach. Austin has potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches as he continues to improve.
