02/19/2024 - National Showcase - Gambrills, MD Austin continues to show as a prospect with his baseball abilities on the diamond. On the mound, he keeps his glove centered in his balance point and shows fluid hand separation. He works with a loose arm and stays inline towards the plate, finishing with a controlled landing. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 83 mph. Fastball shows good arm side run. Breaking ball sits from 67-68 mph, displaying an 10/4 shape with gradual break. Changeup sits from 72-74 mph sinking action. Control is solid as he attacks hitters, throws strikes with all his pitches, and will pitch in. He shows great mound presence and competes on the bump. At the plate he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick (84 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. Barrel accuracy is a plus as he swings with intent. Lower half works well through the swing as he transfers weight into a firm front side. Overall, Austin is a talented prospect who has the skill set to contribute at the next level.

02/20/2023 - National Showcase - Gambrills, MD Austin continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities on the diamond. Behind the plate he shows a squared setup and tracks the ball well with soft glove. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process but needs to work to get body down sooner. Pop times showed in the 2.23 range with accuracy / carry (89 mph velocity) on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he works to get rid of the baseball quicker. At the plate, power potential is now well above average through an open setup. Hands are quick (86 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 83 mph. fastball showed a range of 80-83 mph with good life. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with sharp break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Off speed stuff show as quality pitches that will get outs. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving stock on the mound.

Exclusive College Recruiting Program Austin is a 2024 RHP prospect out Maryland with upside on the mound. His natural raw arm strength is at 86 MPH and combined with a projectable frame to add strength and physicality Kehres brings a very intriguing potential to the mound. He works from a balanced delivery with good use of his lower half and an ability to stay online with control over a 3-pitch mix. Featuring a low 80 MPH FB with life and control, his CB works in the low 60 MPH range with depth and good late action, he has feel for a low 70 MPH CHG with fade. His ability to control the baseball, clean delivery and upside to his frame and arm action make Kehres a great 2024 pitching prospect who will only continue to get better.

10/13/2018 - College Recruiting Day - Columbia, MD Austin is a C prospect who will graduate in 2024. Behind the plate, Austin sits in an athletic stance and tracks the ball into his glove. He moves to block on time and works to keep the ball in front of him. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He tracks the ball well and works to barrel up the baseball. Overall abilities can improve with work on the following.

1. Smoother load
2. Active hands
3. Lower half drive

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
