02/28/2016 - College PREP - Sioux Falls, SD Austin is a strong, athletic OF who will graduate in 2019 with a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is solid as indicated by his 7.32 60 time. In the OF, he uses his quick feet well in taking proper routes / angles in tracking down balls through an aggressive approach. He covers a lot of ground, displaying range. Hands / feet work well together and he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy on his throws. At the plate he shows a squared / athletic setup. Hands are loose and work to and through a level swing path, creating extension. He shows a feel for the barrel and works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Power will increase as he works to utilize his lower half more aggressively. With 3 years to further develop, Austin has a lot of potential with time and room to continue to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
