06/22/2012 - USA Baseball 17U Championships Mourad has a tremendous week at the event. He has improved his defensive abilities through smooth actions. Hands / feet work well together through the fielding process. Glove action is soft / clean / sure as he makes all the plays. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, Austin continues to shine. Hands are quick, generating bat speed through a level swing path. At the event, he was 7 for 13 with 2B and inside the park HR. Mental makeup is a plus as he is a gamer and shows a strong desire to be the best player he can be.

05/27/2012 - College PREP - Lebanon (Nashville), TN Mourad improved his foot speed and ran his first sub 7 60 at 6.96. Feet are quick / aggressive as he attacks groundballs and plays through well. He needs to present hands more out front to continue to improve defensive grades. Offensively, Austin continues to show quick hands that generate bat speed through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel with the baseball jumping off his bat when centered.

01/13/2012 - 2012 Under Armour Pre-Season All-America Tournament Austin continues to show solid abilities at 2B. He shows good pre-pitch actions and moves his feet well. He has soft/clean hands and makes the plays. Offensively, he has a tall setup and gets his lower 1/2 thru. He squares the ball up and is a contact type hitter. Austin is young and will continue to improve with time and maturity.

10/26/2011 - Arizona Fr/So Fall Classic - 2011 Mourad showed similar abilities as we had previously seen in Pirate City World Series, still showing as a top notch player. Hands are soft, clean and sure as he makes all the plays. At the plate, Austin shows a solid setup with hands working through a short / direct path to the ball. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed as he shows a solid feel for the barrel with baseball jumping off his bat when centered. At the event, he was 2 for 4 with 2 SB and 2 BB. Mourad is an athlete that is only going to bet better with time and hard work.

He went 6-12 with two doubles and a home run showing the ability to hit the fastball where it is pitched. He was aggressive with a solid approach at the plate with a level bat path. He has a pitchers type body showing good athletic ability and quick actions defensively and running the bases. He needs to continue to build arm strength, work hard to field the ball out front which will help develop softer hands and help track the ball in better. Austin is very young and has plenty of upside to him in the coming years.

07/24/2011 - Cape Cod Pro Select Training - July 24-28, 2011 Mourad continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to utilize his lower half more efficiently through the swing.

04/10/2011 - College PREP - Louisville, KY Austin is an athletic SS that will graduate in 2014. Foot speed is near average as he will benefit by getting on a speed / agility program to improve foot quickness for the next level. Feet are active and athletic as he come gets while playing through balls with his body. Glove action is soft, clean, and sure as he makes all the plays. Backhand is a plus as he is not afraid to use it. Hands and feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with through showing accuracy. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
