10/13/2021 - Arizona Freshman Fall Classic Austin is a coachable 2025 LHP/1B prospect who showcased his skills at the Arizona Freshman Fall Classic. At 1B, he starts in an athletic position with active feet. He works to center the baseball and had the ability to make routine plays. He fields out front, with a 2-hand exchange, into a low 3/4 release point. Made accurate throws to second base with an arm velocity up to 79mph. Has a high baseball IQ. On the mound, he has a good mound presence with good poise. Starts with a simple rocker step and separates his hands on-time with a quick arm. He strides in-line and takes proper stride length. He attacks hitters with a FB that sits 76-79mph with arm side run, a 2/8 shaped breaking with medium break, and a developing changeup with some arm side run. In 5 innings of work, Austin fanned 9 batters and only allowed 1 hit. A left-handed hitter, he hits from an athletic stance with a comfortable hand set. A simple hand load, with a controlled stride, and ability to deliver the barrel. Gets on-plane early and showed a fast barrel through the hitting zone. Hit line drives consistently to all fields with a bat exit up to 79mph. During the games, he proved to be a tough out as he reached base 4 times and had 2 RBI's. Austin was a team player and worked hard throughout his time in Arizona. With 4 years of continued growth and development, we see this 2-way prospect making huge strides on the baseball field.
