10/13/2021 - Arizona Freshman Fall Classic Austin is a coachable 2025 LHP/1B prospect who showcased his skills at the Arizona Freshman Fall Classic. At 1B, he starts in an athletic position with active feet. He works to center the baseball and had the ability to make routine plays. He fields out front, with a 2-hand exchange, into a low 3/4 release point. Made accurate throws to second base with an arm velocity up to 79mph. Has a high baseball IQ. On the mound, he has a good mound presence with good poise. Starts with a simple rocker step and separates his hands on-time with a quick arm. He strides in-line and takes proper stride length. He attacks hitters with a FB that sits 76-79mph with arm side run, a 2/8 shaped breaking with medium break, and a developing changeup with some arm side run. In 5 innings of work, Austin fanned 9 batters and only allowed 1 hit. A left-handed hitter, he hits from an athletic stance with a comfortable hand set. A simple hand load, with a controlled stride, and ability to deliver the barrel. Gets on-plane early and showed a fast barrel through the hitting zone. Hit line drives consistently to all fields with a bat exit up to 79mph. During the games, he proved to be a tough out as he reached base 4 times and had 2 RBI's. Austin was a team player and worked hard throughout his time in Arizona. With 4 years of continued growth and development, we see this 2-way prospect making huge strides on the baseball field.

09/12/2021 - All-In Membership - Sanford (Orlando), FL Austin is a LHP/1B who will graduate in 2025. Medium frame build with strength present and plenty of room to develop. At 1B, he gets good reads off the bat and efficient footwork enables him to take good angles to balls. Square fielding position as he fields ball out front with ability to make routine plays. Throws from a ¾ arm slot with an arm velocity of 79mph across the infield. On the mound, this left-handed pitcher works with good tempo. Good direction towards plate and ability to throw strikes. Attacks hitters with a FB that was up to 79mph, a breaking ball 2/8 shape, and a changeup he throws with FB arm speed. A left-handed hitter, starts with an athletic and even stance. Quiet head/eyes enable him to track pitches well. Showed good awareness of the strike zone. As he continues to develop and mature, we see him having a bright future on the baseball field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
