01/08/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season Prospects Tournament (HS) Austin is an L/L LHP/OF who plays the game with a lot of energy. On the mound, this lefty takes the mound with a three-pitch mix (FB/CB/CH). FB ranges 62-64, CB has 1-7 shape with big break. CH has depth as he throws it with FB arm speed, helping to create some deception. He works around the zone challenging hitters to swing the bat. He has a pitcher’s mentality and mixes all three pitches effectively. In the outfield, he gets good reads on the ball and takes efficient routes. He works to get behind the ball and tracks it into his mitt. A long toss program would be beneficial in improving arm strength. At the plate, this lefty enters the box swinging with intent. His barrel works through the zone and he stays inside the ball, working back up the middle of the field. Austin is a hard worker and he looks to make an impact this upcoming season.

10/18/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Windsor (Madison), WI Austin is a lean LHP who graduate in 2021. He works to a controlled balance point, has smooth separation and fires from a clean/loose arm action. He gets strong glove-side lead and stays directional toward the dish. FB ranges from 61-63 mph with slight arm side run. Breaking ball shows 2/8 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with slight sink. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Hitting grade will continue to improve as he works to get stride foot down sooner to work on time. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Austin has potential with a lot of room to continue to progress his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
