05/19/2024 - National Showcase - Monterey Park (Los Angeles), CA Avery is a well put together 2025 grad from Servite High. He has turned into a complete player with all portions of his game showing as solid at this point in his varsity career. What really stands out though is his blistering speed with his best 60 to date at 6.49 seconds. In the outfield, he showcases his super athleticism by getting to every baseball in his direction. He gets behind fly balls and cuts down the run game by getting to baseballs on the ground quicker than most. At the plate, he barreled up baseball and even showed power to the opposite field. Avery should turn heads with a strong summer season.

09/20/2023 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic (2025) Avery continues to show as a prospect with his baseball abilities at the Arizona JR Fall Classic. In the OF, he takes good first steps in reading balls off the bat and covers a lot of ground. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls, playing through with momentum to his target. He utilizes his outstanding foot quickness (6.77 60 time) in covering a lot of ground. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate he continues shine through an athletic, open setup. Hands are quick (and work to and through a short / direct / level swing path, creating extension. He has strength in his swing and he works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. At the event, he was 3 for 7 with a 2B and 3B. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

08/01/2023 - National Showcase - Irvine (Los Angeles), CA Another 2023 summer viewing of 2025 grad Jones confirmed our previous assessment; Jones can play. His athleticism shines in the outfield with foot speed being his top tool with a 6.77 60 yard dash. Avery has improved arm strength 3mph over the last couple of months now registering 82mph. In the outfield, his active feet, proper routes and soft hands make him a difference maker. At the plate, he displays rhythm and extension. Exit velocities will continue to rise as he works to drive through the baseball more with his lower half. Overall, Jones is ready to make a name for himself.

06/12/2023 - National Showcase - Orange County, CA Avery continues show as a prospect with improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 6.78 runner. In the OF, defensive abilities are outstanding as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind ball and plays through with momentum to his target. He utilizes his foot quickness in covering a lot of ground. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick (84 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn.

12/27/2022 - Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Avery continues to show as a prospect on the diamond with his baseball abilities at the Recruiting Classic. In the OF, he displays smooth fluid actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls plays through with momentum to his target. He utilizes his outstanding foot quickness in covering a lot of ground. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At the event, he was 3 for 7 with 3 BB.

10/05/2022 - Arizona Sophomore Fall Classic (2025) Avery is a fast (6.81 runner) and athletic OF in the 2025 class. He has active feet and shows excellent range in the OF. His movements are agile and opens his hips well to stay inside the baseball and generate angles. Fields in an athletic position and presents his pocket well. His exchanges are clean and gets to a loose arm action. Uses an over-the-top release and is accurate to his targets. On the bases, he is aggressive and will force the defense to make plays. Registered 3 SB in game action and displayed good instincts on balls put in play. At the plate, He begins in a squared stance and has a short stride. Gets into his backside in his load phase and stays centered in his balance. Hits off a firm front side and uses a short barrel path. Avery is tough to strikeout and he can spray the baseball to all fields. Overall, he is a solid player and will open eyes with his speed. He is a must follow in the 2025 class.

08/07/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - San Jacinto, CA Avery is an OF prospect who will graduate in 2025. Medium frame athletic build with strength present. Ran his 60-yard dash in 6.87 seconds. In the OF, takes aggressive angles to balls, with quick/fluid footwork, and showed good instincts as he worked behind and through the baseball. He fields from an athletic/low fielding position with a clean gather off of his left foot. Made accurate throws, with a quick release, and an arm velocity up to 71mph. At the plate, he sets up with an upright and even stance. He hits into a firm frontside, with quickness to hands, and keeps the barrel in the zone for a long time. He squared up balls to the pull side with a bat exit velocity up to 75mph during his round of BP. With 3 years of continued growth and development, we foresee Avery making huge strides on the baseball field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
