08/10/2024 - Baseball Factory Prospect Combine Avery is a 2027 RHP/3B from Stillwater, NY who displayed his skills at the BF prospect camp. He starts in an athletic position on the balls of his feet and has smooth footwork. Shows good range to his glove side with sure hands out front. Backspins balls from a 3/4 arm slot and an arm velocity up to 80 mph. A right-handed pitcher who has a good idea on the mound and is composed. He pitches ahead in the count and is aggressive. He commands his fastball that topped out at 78 mph. He flashed a curveball that had good depth to it. At the plate he starts with a good knee tuck and gets the knob to the catcher. Has a controlled load and a fast bat through the hitting zone. Made consistent contact with the bat exit velocity up to 80 mph. During games, showed good plate discipline as he drew two walks as well as good instincts on the bases with a stolen base. Avery plays with good effort and energy and is a team player. We look forward to seeing him at another event soon.

08/01/2024 - All-Ripken Games - Dallas, TX Avery is a promising 3B/RHP with a bright future on the diamond. At third base, he exhibits smooth and fluid actions, with active feet that help him square up ground balls and play through them effectively. His glove action is firm and well-presented, and his range will improve as he enhances his foot quickness. At the plate, Avery shines with a squared setup, quick hands, and an aggressive swing path. He consistently stays inside the ball and utilizes all fields with a line drive approach, going 4 for 12 with a double at the recent event. On the mound, his fastball ranges from 72-76 mph, and he maintains arm speed on his changeup, which features sinking action. His stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength. Avery has significant potential with time and room to further develop his game.

06/29/2024 - BF Evaluation Experience at Myrtle Beach Avery is a solid, athletic 3B who has a promising future on the diamond. At 3B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks ground balls but needs to play through with his body. Glove action is firm and presents out front. He moves well laterally and utilizes his foot quickness in covering ground. Throws are accurate as he gets rid of the baseball quickly but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path, creating extension. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half is strong and rotates hips aggressively. With 2 years to further develop, Avery has a lot of potential with time and room to progress his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
