06/21/2024 - College World Series Experience - Session 2 Axel is a strong 5 ft 9/160 RHP/OF in the 2025 class out of Pharr, TX. He impressed scouts with his athletic talents at Omaha recently. In the field, he likes to be aggressive and plays fast. Creates a positive 1st step and shows solid ball security. Arm plays well and is accurate back to the dirt. He does an excellent job on his OF ground ball play. On the mound, he pitched 3 innings and registered 2 K’s while only giving up 2 hits. He operates with a 3-pitch mix from a 3 qtr slot. His FB sat 72-6 with both run and sink. His breaking pitch shaped 10-4 with tight spin. CH sat 68 with sink and deception. At the plate, he has quick hands and a quiet bat plane. Had a good week with many quality at bats and loud contact. He hustles, works hard, is a team player, and is coachable. Overall, Axel is a solid 2025 prospect.

01/28/2024 - National Showcase - San Antonio, TX Axel is a OF/RHP who will graduate in 2025. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying solid hitting/power potential through a crouched, open setup. Hands are quick (85 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. In the OF, he utilizes his aggressive feet as he takes proper routes/angles in tracking down balls. He needs to work to get behind balls and play through with momentum to his target. He utilizes his foot quickness (7.26 60 time) in covering a lot of ground. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 72-74 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Axel has a lot of potential with time and room to progress his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
