08/05/2018 - College PREP - Dublin (Columbus), OH Ryan is a solid, athletic, 2-way player with good skills. Behind the plate, Ryan has efficient footwork, he sits in athletically, and his hands are firm. He has clean actions, blocks well, and throws with accuracy and carry from a short arm action to 2nd base. Pop times were clocked as low as 1.98. On the mound, Ryan works at a good pace on a downhill plane. He repeats his delivery, gets good extension on his pitches, and competes in the zone. More finish, a sharper CB, and added arm strength can help mound effectiveness get better. Offensively, Ryan has a tall set-up, a short stride, and good balance. He is a strong hitter with fast bat speed, a direct barrel to the ball, and he can work it gap to gap. Ryan is a nice prospect at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
