01/16/2009 - Under Armour Pre-Season All America - 2009 Giddens continues to show steady improvement in his baseball abilities. Arm strength has improved the most, now showing near above average and does need to continue on a strict long toss program to further aid in developing more arm strength. At the plate, he continues to shine as he was 3 for 6 at the plate displaying a solid feel for the barrel. Ben has abilities with a lot of room to continue to improve.

03/09/2008 - College PREP - Greenville, SC Ben has really improved his skill level since the last time we saw him. His foot speed has improved and he utilizes his quick, athletic feet in his infield play. He does a nice job of coming to get ground balls and plays through with his feet. His transfer and exchange is solid. His arm strength is average and more suited for 2B at the next level. He needs to get on a strict long toss program to continue to further develop arm strength. At the plate, Ben displays solid average ability and power. He displays the ability to consistently find the barrel through a solid balanced lower half. He tends to fly open and cut the baseball at contact. We would like to see him keep the barrel behind and thru the baseball at contact with extension. Ben has the making to be a solid player at the next level with some polish.

12/27/2007 - Christmas Camp and Tournament - 2007 Giddens is a skilled player with good instincts and a good feel for the game. He showed solid actions defensively , thanks to good footwork and glove action. His arm action was compact, allowing for quick and accurate throws. At the plate, his stroke was level and he showed ability to use the whole field. Can work to improve his rhythm to help him get consistently loaded and ready to hit on time. Has a solid base of skills to build upon as he physically matures and gets stronger.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
