03/25/2018 - College PREP - Harmony (Pittsburgh), PA Ben is a young C prospect who will graduate in 2021. Behind the plate, Ben presents a low target and shows high energy. He gives good effort blocking balls in the dirt and makes the routine play. Ben can improve as a C by sitting in a more athletic stance and by receiving the ball with softer hands. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a square stride. He gets into his load and shows a firm front side in his lower half. He takes a level swing with decent bat speed which leads to solid line drives. Ben can improve as a hitter by working a smoother rhythm into his load. With three more years to develop, Ben has the potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
