Ben is a 2027 second baseman and catcher prospect from Charlotte, NC, who showcases impressive skills. Behind the plate, he works around the ball with finesse, centering it low and utilizing an over-the-top throwing angle to make accurate throws. His easy sit allows him to track pitches well, while his footwork helps him gain ground on throws to second base, achieving a best pop time of 2.28 seconds, along with solid blocking angles. At 2B, he creates angles towards the ball, has a clean exchange, and plays low to high. At the plate, he has a smooth, level swing that effectively rotates his lower half, enabling consistent contact to all fields. With plenty of time to continue improving, he has a bright future ahead in the game.

Ben continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. At 2B, defensive abilities are solid as he displays clean/smooth actions. Feet are active as he works around ball and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process, deadening ball well out front. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.50. At the plate, hitting/power potential has improved through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball and utilizes all fields well through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

Ben is a 2027 grad out of Huntersville, NC who showcased at 2B and OF. At 2B, he displays smooth/fluid actions. Feet are active as he attacks ground ball but needs to play through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. In the OF, he is aggressive and attacks ground balls. He reads balls well but needs to work behind balls more to play through with momentum to his target. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. Range will increase as he improves his foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn.
06/24/2022 - Baseball Factory Select Training at the College World Series (MS)
Ben worked out at 2nd base during his time in Omaha. He is a young, hard working player who wants to improve. Defensively, Ben has a good approach to the ball through playable hands and feet. He moves well to the ball, keeps it in front of his body, and throws with accuracy to his target. Ben increased arm velocity to 66 MPH. At the plate, Ben stands in the box with a tall set-up, and he takes a controlled stride toward the pitcher. He swings on-plane, in rhythm, and he rotates his hips through; driving the ball gap to gap.
11/04/2021 - Baseball Factory Select Training at Pirate City
Ben is a 2027 catcher out of Huntersville, NC who continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate, hitting/power potential has improved through an athletic setup. He has fluid rhythm while getting good hand separation. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At the event, he was 3 for 4. Behind the plate he shows a squared setup and tracks the ball well with a soft glove. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process but needs to work to get his body down sooner. Pop times showed in the 3.20 range. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and works to get rid of the ball quicker. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and has great knowledge of the game. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for Ben as he continues to progress his game.
