06/11/2017 - College PREP - Hoover (Birmingham), AL Ben is a tall, solid RHP who will graduate in 2019. Delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. He shows good tempo through a strong balance point. Fastball showed a range of 67-71 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws too hard with speed variations being too close to fastball. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, Ben has abilities with time and room to progress his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
