02/19/2018 - National Tryout Plus - Beverly Hills (Detroit), MI Ben is a hardworking C/3B prospect who has a versatile skill set. As a switch-hitter, Ben has an open, crouched stance with his weight on his heels. He has a good load with a short stride as he partially uses his lower half throughout his swing. He stays balanced and maintains a quiet head. Ben has a middle of the field approach. He is a contact type hitter who looks to put the ball in play. Behind the plate, Ben has a solid, square setup. He tracks the ball well with his eyes and receives the ball deep in his stance. Ben has a loose arm action and throws from a high 3/4 arm slot. His throws are online and he is developing arm strength. Ben shows a solid backhand when needed. In the field, Ben plays with an aggressive approach and attacks the baseball. He covers good ground and fields the ball in an athletic position. Ben has firm hands with a clean exchange. He plays with good momentum through the ball throwing from an over the top arm slot showing consistently strong throws across the diamond. Overall, Ben has a well-rounded game and potential to get even better with development.

11/17/2016 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City Ben is a young C who will graduate in 2020. Behind the plate, Ben gets into a square set up and presents his hands out front to receive the ball. He throws from a high 3/4 angle and keeps his throws on-line down to 2B. Ben can improve as a C by quickening his exchange to throw. At the plate, Ben sets up in a tall stance and takes a short stride to the ball. He gets back into his load well and takes an on-plane swing to the ball. He comes through the zone with fast bat speed which produces hard contact and line drives. Ben can improve as a hitter by using his lower half to produce more power in his swing. Mental makeup is a plus as Ben showed a great attitude and worked hard throughout the event. Overall, Ben is a young prospect who has the time and potential to further develop his skills.

09/04/2016 - Interactive Video Program - Livonia, MI Ben is a C/3B who will graduate in 2021. Behind the plate, he displays a quiet body as he presents a low target. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
