06/22/2008 - College PREP - Worcester, MA Ben is a strong player. Behind the plate, Ben has an accurate throw to 2B. He has the right idea of the footwork required, but he needs to develop a long toss program to increase arm strength. He blocks the balls well in the dirt and recovers nicely, but he needs to work on framing pitches. At the plate, Ben has bat speed and barrel accuracy. He has some pop to the pull side despite getting a little uphill with his swing. He has potential at the plate and with work on his defensive side, Ben might be able to play at the right program in college.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
